KFC has tapped Darrell Hammond to bring back Colonel Sanders in advertising.
It’s an interesting portrayal. When I first saw it I was trying to figure out who was portraying the Colonel. His hair has an unnatural color and his face had that young man looking older cast to it.
I’m surprised at some of the details if they were going for a likeness. His hair is too big and his mustache is too long by comparison to the Colonel. Then of course to me the biggest thing is the black pocket square missing.
Comparing pictures I don’t think there is much makeup here, just general makeup with a wig and facial hair.

More information can be seen in this article from People magazine.
On the People site there is a nice side view of him. I’m curious if he is padded or if Darrell Hammond is heavier than I remember. His hands seem nicely chubby fingered in the videos, so maybe he is heavier.
The KFC YouTube channel has a playlist of the ads and clips if you want to check them out.
What are your feelings and reaction?
I’m just happy to see a new post here!!!
It is a pretty realistic looking make up job- especially the stache. However, you can see his wig is ill-fitting in the video.
One of my favorites in this vein is the video of Johnny Knoxville’s make up for Bad Grandpa
